As a Mom, I believe no family should ever have to go to the emergency room and be afraid their child is going to die because of something they ate.
Erica Colleran has served on the Board of Directors of the Food Allergy Science Initiative (FASI) since 2023, bringing a parent’s perspective and a commitment to accelerating research. Her son, Andrew, was diagnosed with food allergies at seven months old. Her family’s experience, together with accounts of severe reactions shared by other parents, strengthened her determination to help advance the science.
Erica is driven to understand why food allergies develop and explore the connections between the nervous and immune systems. She also wants families to have more reliable, less distressing ways to diagnose food allergy. Her support for FASI reflects her belief that foundational research can benefit families far beyond her own.
Erica brings to FASI firsthand knowledge of the questions and concerns families face, alongside a conviction that scientific progress is essential to changing their future. Her commitment connects the urgency families feel today with the sustained research needed to move toward a cure.
