Rima Rachid is a Co-Director of the Food Allergy Program and Director of Allergen Immunotherapy at Boston Children’s Hospital. She is an internationally recognized leader in food allergy, oral immunotherapy, and immune tolerance. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that drive food allergy development and persistence, while advancing translational approaches that can prevent, modify, or treat allergic disease. She has been a pioneer in developing and evaluating food allergen immunotherapy strategies, including combination approaches with biologics, and more recently has helped uncover how the gut microbiome and its metabolites regulate oral tolerance to foods. Her work bridges clinical care and fundamental immunology, with the goal of developing safer, more effective therapies that restore lasting immune tolerance in patients with food allergy.

At FASI, Dr. Rachid’s work aligns with the initiative’s mission to uncover the biological mechanisms that drive food allergy and translate those discoveries into transformative therapies. Her expertise in immune tolerance, microbiome-based interventions, and clinical food allergy therapeutics provides a critical bridge between foundational discoveries and patient-centered treatments.
