The next step in fighting allergies
By Carlos Bosques, Ph.D.
I read with great interest Michael J. Coren’s Sept. 9 Health column, “Schools should stop banning peanuts. Here’s what really keeps kids safe,” on evolving school-based strategies for managing peanut and other allergies.
Protocols such as epinephrine access, allergen-free zones and staff training save lives, and schools deserve credit for taking these steps. But safety protocols are, by design, a response to a problem that hasn’t been solved.
